Busted Chin

Today Rei cut her upper chin right below her lip! She was holding one of my hair accessories she discovered on the living room table and then accidentally slipped on my yoga mat and banged her chin at the table corner of all places. Luckily I had placed a protective cover. If not it could have been much worse. Also lucky that she didn't hit her eyes or teeth which is gonna be catastrophic.

I was upstairs when it happened. Mum yelled for me. When I went down, I saw blood everywhere on her mouth and my mum's thigh and hands. Didn't expect it to be this bad. Applied ice compression and that's when I saw how deep the cut is. It's also serrated. Mum said when it happened, Rei was so in pain that she arched her body and screwed up her face. Initially we decided to bring her to the hospital because her kajang clinic recommended that course of action. But we had to wait till after lunch hour and so during the wait, we calmed ourselves down and thought perhaps going to the pharmacy to get first aid is enough. So I called the AA pharmacy people and they say to just sterilise and put antiseptic cream and plaster since Rei wasn't bleeding anymore. I even sent a picture of the cut to them to check. I was also thinking that Rei won't allow anyone to suture her own skin so going to the hospital will be a waste of money.

Rei was just so brave. After the crying right after the incident and when she has calmed down, she could still smile and walked around even though she was still in pain. She didn't whine or anything. We brought her along in the car to the pharmacy because usually there isn't any parking around the area. She was having fun shaking my Millennium sachet and was strapped by the seatbelt.

After putting her to sleep, I applied the sodium chloride irrigation solution and immediately she woke up in pain. It must have stung so badly. But no choice. After calming her down, I tried to dab on yellow lotion. Finally I applied the antiseptic cream on the plaster and tried to put it on. 3 tries and all of them failed. First one I accidentally ripped the corner too hard and it kinda slapped back on her chin and so she cried. Second one she swiped and crumpled. Third one was successfully placed on but after a few minutes, she managed to peel it off. The hold wasn't that strong too because of all the saliva. Decided not to put any plaster on it and chose to use Savlon (a less strong antiseptic cream) and apply every few hours on her wound. Hopefully it will be okay.

Funny thing is, I actually had a nightmare on Rei last night. I dreamt that I shrank her up to Barbie doll size and carried her around behind my back. While I was standing, suddenly there was a surge of people and everyone was pushing around. Rei got suffocated behind my back and when I left the crowd, I saw Rei has turned purple. I quickly gave her CPR - chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation but Rei's face slowly turned black. It was horrible. So horrible. I woke up and realised its just a dream. Thank God its a dream.

Then this fall happened in the morning. 

Was the nightmare an omen to look out for Rei?
