First Family Trip with Rei!

Today was an eventful day. It was our FIRST EVER FAMILY TRIP! We went to Genting Highlands after one and half year of MCO (Movement Control Order). There is just no word to describe when we finally crossed the state border which had been closed for one year? It felt like we have finished a war and things are recovering. But of course the virus is still living amongst us and too bad there's still no vaccine for Rei. So we purposely chose a weekday and hope there will be less people compared to weekends.

Woke up at 8:30am but only departed from house at 11am. Life with a baby-toddler! Haha. We drove Papa's car because he said that it would be more comfortable for Rei. But I was also half thinking that it might be safer to drive a lower car as its a mountain we are going to be driving at. Lo and behold, after a short trip to Famima (Family Mart), at about 11:20am, the car started behaving weirdly. The ECG signal was on and the car was vibrating. So we called Yang's parents to tell them this and so happened they were out driving Yang's car. Met at MRT station and we swapped car! Funny thing was when the parents arrived, the Volkswagen became ok. And the ECG light is off.

(Before car acted weirdly)

Rei slept when we started driving up the mountain and woke up only when we reached carpark. We took quite some time at the carpark preparing to go out. So many things to carry and Rei needed a diaper change. She protested when we wanted to change her on the stroller in the carpark. She felt a bit unsafe and wanted to cling to me. So after changing diaper upright, I carried her with a baby carrier as I felt she needed me in this unfamiliar surrounding. Surprisingly, she allowed me to put her giraffe hat and her face shield on! I was glad because at least there's SOME protection for her.

Most areas in Genting are closed except most restaurants that we passed by. There were quite a number of people up there considering it being a weekday and also theres nothing to do. I was kinda anxious every time we had to go through indoors especially the ones with low ceilings. I hope we didn't catch anything back. Rei was just fascinated with everything. She just looked at everywhere quietly through her plastic face shield. We wanted to go to Gohtong Walk and Central Park area but they are closed. The best part of the trip was to be able to go to the rooftop and take pictures with the Genting highlights. Brings back old memories.

After that we found a quiet place to sit and have our lunch. Had 5 onigiris and Rei had her fried egg and pear. She was more animated and verbal at that time compared to when we were sightseeing. When finishing our meal, we realised she had pooped! So our first time again changing diaper in a baby changing room! We had to wait as there was a family inside but Rei was so uncomfortable and wanted to escape our grasp. Finally the family came out and we entered this small area where there's a sink and a changing pad. Rei didn't want to lie down so I took her to the sink and washed her butt in cold water. Well, I guess not too bad for the first time. At least there's a changing room!

(Met some figurines)
(Socksless because her mummy didn't think of bringing that)

Feeling already tired and my nose acting up again, we decided to just go back since there's nothing much anymore and I felt the crowd was getting more. Went down at about 4pm and Rei slept the whole way down the mountain again while her mummy was experiencing pain in her ears. I thought Rei would be affected by this too but she seemed okay so far.

(Another family photo - Rei chewing on her shield and mummy having a nice hair day after cutting it and daddy forever having a nice hair day)

(Sleeeeeep)
(The view above. Feels so good to witness this beauty)

Overall Rei behaved really well during her first trip! Excited to bring her to more places! She was tired after so she was kinda hyper. Put her to bed earlier at 10:10am and she slept soon after.
